Fight with premature greying

Grey hair too early??? Spotting the first strand of grey hair can be an absolute nightmare for some of us but you will be surprised to know that greying in your 20’s is as common as of frizz or dandruff! All the negative talk around premature greying has led to the birth of some of the weirdest myths we have heard so far and today you and I are going to debunk some of these monsters together.A common myth, and also one of the most asked questions is if grey hair can regain its natural color. Unless you turn to chemical dyes, this is not an option. Grey hair isn’t reversible but what you can do instead is you can work towards preventing further greying or whitening of hair instead. You should consult your derma who will give you the right steps to take to stop further greying or whitening whether it is by using cosmetics treatments or allopathy.

Myth 2– If somebody tells you that plucking out any grey or white hair is going to make more white hair grow in its place that’s not true at all because there are only a certain number of hair follicles on our scalp but what it is going to do instead is cause damage and prevent hair growth so you need to “STOP” now! If you pluck one, two are coming to its place is a silly myth. Another myth that we should definitely bid goodbye to because it has no scientific research to back it up.

Myth 3- ‘Too much sun cause more greying.’ Constant exposure to the sunlight causes drying which could lead to your hair becoming more susceptible to heat or damage from hot tools like a blow dryer or straightener but that’s about it!

Causes Of Grey Hair: Let’s start with the basics! Your Race, ethnicity, and your genetics play a very important role in determining how late or early you will start getting grey or white hair. If your parents faced greying in their 30’s, chances are you are going to have to bear the brunt of it too. Vitamin D, B-6, B-12, or E when lacking your body can lead to greying. When you have a lack of these nutrients in your body, it decreases the pigmentation of your hair, but this can easily be prevented by taking the right supplements. This list would be incomplete without the addition of this monster that has a part to play in almost all of our daily concerns when it comes to our health and wellbeing. Research has found that the cells responsible for our hair color can deplete due to stress and this can lead to greying over a long period of time. Concerns such as autoimmune disease, thyroid dysfunction, or anemia can lead to grey or white hair at an early stage. If you have immense hair fall or a sudden increase in white hair you should also get yourself checked for alopecia, which is a skin condition that causes these changes but can be easily curbed with medication. Lastly, studies show that smokers are 2 & 1/2 times more likely to start greying in their early 30’s because of this addictive habit. So try getting rid of it.
